6 Days Primates Safari
Day 1: Arrival – Entebbe International airport-Kampala
On arrival, you will be picked by our company representative who will transfer you to the hotel, have a briefing, dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 2: Kampala – Kibale National Park
Breakfast, be picked from your residence and drive or fly to Kibale National Park. The park is about 766 km2 in size with primarily moist evergreen forest and contains a diverse array of landscapes. It is in the Southern part of Uganda in Kabarole and Kamwenge districts and about, 320 kilometres from Kampala.
About 325 species of birds like olive long-tailed cuckoo, Western Green tinker bird, African and Green-breasted and African Grey Parrot, 13 species of primates, a total of at least 60 other species of mammals, and over 250 tree species have found this a perfect home. It is home to a large number of endangered chimpanzees other primates including the red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, Uganda Mangabey, the Ugandan Red Colobus, and the L’Hoest’s Monkey. Other mammals include red and blue duikers, bush pigs, warthogs, buffalo and elephants. Various types of buffer flies and reptiles have found this tropical forest, savannah, the woodland as well as the diverse altitude a perfect home. Have lunch on arrival and then go for a community or forest walk. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay
Day 3: Chimp Tracking in Kibale Forest
Breakfast, go for a briefing at the park headquarters. Later begin the trek. Other animals might be spotted while tracking chimps and these may include the red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, Uganda Mangabey, the Ugandan Red Colobus, and the L’Hoest’s Monkey, red and blue duikers, bush pigs, warthogs, buffalo and elephants. Various birds can also be spotted while on the trek. You will return to the lodge have lunch and the afternoon can be spent at leisure or by visiting Bigodi wetland or other places of interest in Fort Portal town. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Day 4: Kibale- Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast, be picked from your residence or airport and drive or fly to Queen Elizabeth National Park. It was named after Queen Elizabeth II and was established in 1954. It is located in western Uganda and covers an area of about 1,978 square kilometres which is shared between 3 districts that is Kasese, Bushenyi and Rukungiri. It’s about 376 kilometres (234 mi), by road, southwest of Kampala. In this park there is Lake Edward and Lake George and the Kazinga channel that connects the two lakes. Other lakes are volcanic and this includes the Katwe salt lake, from which salt is extracted. The vegetation in the park is open savannah, green meadows, semi- deciduous tropical forests, dense equatorial rain forest and dense papyrus swamps.
On arrival, you can have lunch and then go for an afternoon game drive where various animals can be spotted like elephants, Bufalloes, Impalas, Uganda Kobs and lions. Birds like the African skimmer, Chapins flycatcher, Pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, Shoebill stork, martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail can also be seen by especially keen birders. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay
Day 5: Game drive and boat ride
Breakfast, later go for a game drive. Where your guide will help you spot a plethora of animals. Return for lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat ride where you will spot Hippos, Crocodiles, various birds including the flamingos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kampala
Early breakfast, drive or fly back to Kampala. You will have a few stopovers en-route. You will be dropped off at a place of your choice in Kampala or at the airport.
