5 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari
Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National park
Breakfast, be picked from your residence and drive or fly to Bwindi national park which is located in south-western part of Uganda along the Democratic Republic of Congo border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift. It’s a home to various species, including over 214 species of birds and 120 species of mammals. It’s also a home to the worldly know mountain gorillas and some other endangered species like the l’Hoest’s monkey, African elephant, African green broadbill, Grauer’s rush warbler, Chaplin’s flycatcher, African giant swallowtail among others. It covers an area of 331 square Kilometres. Lunch will be enroute. Arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 2: Gorilla tracking
Wake up call, breakfast and dress for the jungle. You will be briefed and later begin your trek which takes 2-10 hours depending on the movements of these shy giants. Other animals and birds might be spotted too while tracking gorillas. You might spot l’Hoest’s monkey, African elephant, birds like the African green broadbill, Grauer’s rush warbler, Chaplin’s flycatcher, African giant swallowtail among others. You will enjoy your packed lunch in the forest. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Batwa Trail and community walks
Breakfast and take the Batwa trail. The Batwa people used to inhabit in the Bwindi forest, they used to live in caves and no-longer live there anymore. The batwa trail will take you to where these people used to live and where they live currently. You will get to enjoy their culture, dances and get to socialise with them. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Second Gorilla tracking
Wake up call, breakfast and dress for the jungle. You will be briefed and later begin your trek which takes 2-10 hours depending on the movements of these shy giants. Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kampala
Early breakfast, drive or fly back to Kampala. You will have lunch and a few stopovers en-route. You will be dropped off at a place of your choice in Kampala or at the airport.
